Privacy Policy

Bledstone Investigative Services ("Bledstone," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at bledis.com (the "Site") and provides licensed private investigation services in the State of Utah. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

This policy covers two different kinds of information, and they are handled differently:

  1. Information about visitors to this website — anyone browsing the Site or submitting a contact/inquiry form.

  2. Information about subjects of an investigation — a fundamentally different category, since the people we investigate on a client's behalf have not visited our Site or consented to our collecting information about them the way a website visitor does. Section 5 addresses this separately.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly. When you submit our contact form, call, or email us, we collect what you provide — for example, name, email address, phone number, and the details of your inquiry.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we (and our hosting provider, Wix) automatically collect certain technical information when you visit the Site, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and referring URLs, typically through cookies and similar technologies. See Section 6.

Information we do not collect through this Site. We do not collect financial account numbers, government ID numbers, or health information through the Site itself. If any such information is ever needed for a case, it is collected through a separate, direct engagement process — never through this website.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to inquiries and provide requested information about our services;

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site;

  • Communicate with current or prospective clients about services they've requested;

  • Comply with legal obligations, licensing requirements, and law enforcement requests where required.

We do not use information collected through this Site for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

3. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal information collected through this Site, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We may share information:

  • With service providers who help us operate the Site (e.g., our website host, form provider, email provider), under obligations to protect it;

  • When required by law, court order, subpoena, or valid legal process;

  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Bledstone, our clients, or others;

  • In connection with an actual case, only as necessary to deliver services to the client who engaged us, and consistent with our professional and legal obligations as a licensed Utah private investigation agency.

4. Cookies and Analytics

The Site may use cookies and similar tools (including those provided by our website platform, and analytics or advertising tools such as Google Analytics or Google Ads, if enabled) to understand Site usage and improve performance. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some Site functionality. We do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as no common industry standard for interpreting them exists.

5. Investigative and Background Check Information

  • This section applies specifically to information gathered in the course of an investigation, background check, or related service performed for a client — not to Site visitors generally.

  • We collect information about investigation subjects from a client's engagement of our services, not from this website. This may include public records, licensed database sources, direct observation, and other lawful investigative methods, consistent with Utah's Private Investigation Licensing Act (Utah Code § 58-92) and its implementing rules.

  • Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) notice. Where a background check or investigative report we prepare is used, or is likely to be used, for employment screening, tenant screening, credit decisions, or insurance underwriting, that report may constitute a "consumer report" and we may be acting as a "consumer reporting agency" under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. In those circumstances, we require our clients to certify a permissible purpose before we release a report, and we handle the underlying data, retention, and any dispute process in accordance with FCRA's requirements.

  • Confidentiality. Investigative files and client information are held in confidence and are not disclosed except as necessary to deliver services to the engaging client, as required by law, or as authorized in writing.

  • Retention. We retain case files and related records for the period required by our professional obligations as a Utah-licensed private investigation agency and applicable law, and securely dispose of records after that period expires.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You may contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about you as a Site visitor or inquiry submitter, to correct it, or to ask that we delete it, and we will respond to legitimate requests as a matter of good practice. As of this policy's effective date, Bledstone does not meet the size or data-volume thresholds that trigger the Utah Consumer Privacy Act or comparable state consumer privacy laws, so this section describes a courtesy practice rather than a legal entitlement created by those statutes. This does not apply to investigative records described in Section 5, which are governed by our professional and legal obligations rather than visitor choice.

8. Children's Privacy

This Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Third-Party Links

The Site may link to third-party websites we do not control. This Policy does not apply to those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy practices separately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted on this page.
